The whole world has just been engulfed. Noach steps out of the teva and finds nothing but a devastated landscape.
And yet, the very first thing G-d gives him is a promise. The rainbow, a sign that total destruction will never again wipe everything away.
💡 A solid commitment isn't measured by the absence of storms, it's measured by what's still standing afterward.
The haftarah (Isaiah 54) picks up this exact image, word for word: "like the waters of Noach." G-d says His attachment will never waver, even if the mountains themselves begin to shake.
That's true faithfulness. Not the kind that depends on calm surroundings. The kind that holds firm when everything is shaking.
